The fun part

International Scuba offers the most classes per calendar year with the smallest class size in the Dallas/Fort Worth area.  You only need to read a few of our reviews on Google to find that we pride ourselves on delivering the best scuba education with highly-trained instructors who are committed to make you a competent diver who understands and follows safety standards, regardless of where you are diving.

Many of our students continue to dive locally and we have over 500 divers in our facebook community group who plan trips in the area. In case you were wondering, all scuba diving training begins with Open Water Diver. After finishing this course, you will be certified to explore a whole new world under water!

Your training starts online.  It is self-paced and you should plan on 12 to 15 hours of study.  After that, you receive 3 nights or a weekend practicing skills in our training pool in our scuba shop in Carrollton, TX.  The following weekend, you will take your first open water training dives at a scuba park in Terrell, TX.

We have our own training pool.  One of the things that sets us apart from most other dive shops in the area is we start your training right in our own pool.  We have a full line of high-quality dive gear making sure your experience is top-notch.  The following weekend, we go to The Scuba Ranch in Terrell, TX to complete your open water dives for certification.

Your Open Water Certfication course is taught by professional instructors who care for your safety and love to teach our students scuba diving.  We keep our instruction to small groups with a maximum of 6 people. We offer more personal attention, more fun, and a real quality dive experience and education. That is why you will find that our reviews in the Dallas/Forth Worth area for scuba certification are some of the best.

To enroll, you need to:

  • Be a PADI (Jr.) Open Water Diver (or qualifying certification from another training organization)
  • Be at least 10 years old
  • Fill up our PADI Medical Questionnaire. This form is to find out if you should be examined by your doctor before participating in recreational diver training. If any of the items in the Medical Questionnaire apply to you, you must consult a physician prior to participating in scuba diving.

The course consists of a knowledge development session and 2 open water dives over 1 day. You will learn:

  • Dive from boats ranging from small inflatables to giant live-aboards :
    •     how they differ from place to place
    •     gain experience and training from diving on boats in your local area
  •     Safely enter and exit the water :
    •     sometimes it’s better to hand your gear up to the crew and then climb in the boat
    •     sometimes you just take off your fins and weights and walk up the ladder
  •     Stow your gear in the most appropriate areas
  •     Use surface lines to initiate or conclude your dives.
  •     Locate basic boat safety equipment

Basic scuba gear

For comfort and hygiene reasons, many people prefer to use their own equipment. If you would like the peace-of-mind and comfort of your own gear, we can help. You may want to invest in your own mask, snorkel and fins since these personal items are a lot more fun to use when they fit properly. Also for $7 usd additional, you can get a brand new mouthpiece for the regulators you’ll use during the course, and you take it back home. Something you might want to think about…
